Gig Report, 02-10-07
It's been over three months since my last Gig Report, that of 10-24-06, so here comes another one. Steven Paul's Recognize the Devil is playing in the background, my mug is filled with Crown Royal and Diet Coke... It's blogging time...
Saturday, October 28th, 2006: Bellefonte, PA On Saturday October 28th I shared a showbill with four other friends at Cool Beans Coffee and Tea in Bellefonte PA. Johanna Mutti and Curtis Rockwell opened up with a half hour set starting at 7:00 PM, and I played a half hour set of my own starting at 7:30 PM. At 8:00 PM Steve Schofield began a set lasting about 45 minutes, before yielding the mic to Kettle, who played for about an hour or so.
The show went very well overall. The room was largely full as to audience, and each entertainer turned in a decent performance. Schofield impressed me with improved mic discipline and lyric delivery, and Kettle impressed me with his showmanship.
Thanks are in order for so many folks... Thanks to Cool Beans Coffee & Tea, for hosting the show; to Johanna and Curtis of Oriskany Stringed Instruments, for opening the show and also for providing sound engineering; to Kettle, Schofield, Amanda, Maria, and Suma, for making the trip along with me; and finally to everyone in the audience who showed up and supported us.
Saturday, December 9th, 2006: Mullica Hill, NJ On Saturday December 9th, I performed a short set in between two sets by headline act Steven Paul at Crescent Moon Coffee and Tea in Mullica Hill NJ. Steven did well, showcasing improved vocals since his prior live appearances. My own set also went well, with my three songs chosen for maximum impact in minimum time: Ferdinando Carulli's "Allegretto," the Christmas tune "We Three Kings," and my Pink Floyd medley "Vera" / "Is There Anybody Out There." Thanks to Steven for inviting me to make an appearance, and thanks to my friends Gary, Kettle, and Kris, for coming out to listen.
